Notion is pulling the plug on its AI-powered email client, Notion Mail, less than a year and a half after its debut. The company confirmed today that the service will be fully discontinued this fall, with a final shutdown date of September 22.
Originally launched in April 2025 as an extension of Notion’s broader productivity ecosystem , which includes Notion Calendar, Notion Web Clipper, and the flagship notes-and-tasks platform , Notion Mail was positioned as a smarter inbox that could adapt to individual workflows and become more capable over time with integrated AI. But user behavior has shifted faster than the product’s lifecycle.
According to Notion’s official statement, more than half of Notion Mail users already manage their email without ever opening the inbox, relying instead on AI-powered agents to handle routine tasks. “As Notion agents have gotten more capable, we’ve seen more users hand off email workflows to them,” the company said. “We’re going all in on using agents to run your inbox.”
The shutdown timeline is clearly laid out in a support article. Starting June 25, users can export any Notion Mail-specific data through the app or web interface. September 21 marks the final day to save anything you want to keep. By September 22, the service will cease to function entirely, and any data not exported will be permanently deleted.
Key details for users to know: Emails stored in your Gmail account will remain unaffected, but drafts and scheduled messages within Notion Mail will not carry over automatically. Users must manually export those by September 21 if they wish to preserve them. The same applies to custom setups, including snippets and auto-labeling configurations.
For now, Notion Mail is still available for download on the App Store, though its days are numbered. The company expressed gratitude to users who adopted the service, noting, “We’re grateful to each and every one of you for building your routine around Notion Mail and trusting us with something that mattered as much as your email. More to come!”
