Google Search Console has introduced a new feature called platform properties, giving content creators a direct window into how their social and video posts perform in Google Search. For the first time, users can now track the search visibility of content published on Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube.

According to Google, “Now, you can easily track which search terms lead people to your Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube content on Search, and see exactly how your audience is interacting with your posts.” This data lives inside the Search Console performance report, insights report, and achievements section.

The performance report shows total clicks, impressions, and other metrics. You can filter and sort this data to identify which specific posts and search queries drive the most traffic. If you prefer an external analytics tool, you can export the data directly.

The insights report offers a high-level view of recent traffic trends, your top-performing posts, and how people discover your account through Google. Meanwhile, the achievements section tracks your growth and celebrates milestones, such as hitting a new threshold for total clicks from Google Search over the last 28 days.

This capability builds on the social channel details previously available in Search Console’s insights reports. To get started, you must verify your platform property within your Search Console account. The process is straightforward: open Search Console, go to the verification page or use the property selector dropdown to click “Add property,” then choose from Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube. Follow the onscreen steps to securely authorize the connection.

Google noted that platform properties will roll out gradually over the coming weeks, so not everyone will see the option immediately. The company had published a help document about this feature a few weeks ago, but it was quickly taken down before today’s official launch.

It is important to distinguish this from the new search profiles feature, which has its own separate analytics. Platform properties focus specifically on content hosted on social and video platforms.

Why does this matter? Historically, Google has not provided a way to see how your content performs on domains or properties you do not own. Now, you gain access to performance data for platforms where you lack developer access. That is a significant shift, and it opens up fresh opportunities to understand how your social content surfaces in search results. For marketers and creators, this could be a game-changer in optimizing cross-platform strategies.
