The tech world is buzzing with questions about the fate of Grokipedia, the AI-powered encyclopedia from Elon Musk’s xAI. Once touted as a potential “massive improvement” over Wikipedia, the platform appears to have gone completely dormant. According to a recent report from Lawfare, no entries on the site have been refreshed since April 24th. “As far as we can tell, no entry has changed in more than three months,” the report states.

Grokipedia first launched in October 2025 as a v0.1 prototype, rolling out with an initial cache of 885,000 articles. The service quickly moved to v0.2 the following month, and its official live page now claims a catalog exceeding 6,000,000 total articles. However, that same live page contains a section labeled “Recent changes to…” which currently displays a stark message: “No live edits available right now.”

While users can still submit requests for new articles or propose edits to existing ones, the system appears to be ignoring them. Lawfare’s investigation into the platform’s health was thorough. “In our subsequent analysis of 34,519 pages with at least one suggested edit in our sample, containing a total of 225,496 recommended edits, we found no accepted or rejected corrections dated within the past three months,” the report detailed.

The silence from xAI has been deafening. The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the platform’s status. Meanwhile, speculation is running rampant across social media. Users on both Reddit and X have openly questioned whether Grokipedia is effectively “dead.” Adding fuel to the fire, Lawfare pointed out that Musk’s last post on X referencing Grokipedia dates all the way back to February.
