Google has begun distributing the first Android 16 QPR1 update, bundled with the October security patch, to a wide array of Pixel devices. This release addresses several user interface and display problems reported by owners of models including the Pixel 7 series, Pixel 8 series, Pixel 9 series, and the newly launched Pixel 10 lineup, alongside the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.
The update carries the build number BP3A/BD3A.251005.x, confirming its October release. It is important to note that this particular patch does not resolve any security vulnerabilities, as the Android security bulletin for October 2025 lists no issues for the dates of the 1st or 5th.
Specific build numbers have been assigned for different regions and models. For the global market, most devices, including the Pixel 7 through Pixel 9a, are receiving build BP3A.251005.004.B1. The Pixel Tablet gets a slightly different variant, BP3A.251005.004.A2. The newer Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL are being updated with build BD3A.251005.003.W3. In Japan, the Pixel 9a is on build BP3A.251005.004.A2, while the Pixel 10 series uses BD3A.251005.003.J5.
A key focus of this update is resolving persistent display and graphics glitches. For the Pixel 7, 7 Pro, and 7a, a fix has been implemented for screen flickering and unexpected device shutdowns that occurred under specific circumstances. Additionally, the Pixel 10 series receives a correction for an issue that would sometimes cause the screen to appear frozen or fuzzy.
On the system front, the Pixel Tablet gets a dedicated patch aimed at improving overall system stability, resolving instances where the device could become unstable.
Several user interface annoyances have also been smoothed out. A widespread fix applies to numerous models, from the Pixel 7 to the Pixel 10 Pro XL, concerning a semi-transparent background that would linger on the screen after the camera app was launched. Another adjustment ensures that the flashlight status now correctly appears on the At a Glance widget for the Pixel 9 series, Pixel 9a, and Pixel 10 series, where it was previously missing in some situations. Finally, a crash within the System UI that happened when starting or stopping a cast session via the Media Output Switcher has been resolved for the same broad range of devices.
