President Donald Trump is calling on Disney to fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel after a recent joke about the First Lady. The remark came during a skit previewing the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where Kimmel joked that Melania Trump looked like an “expectant widow.” The segment aired just days before an armed gunman attempted an assassination at the event on Saturday, forcing Trump, Melania, and other administration officials to evacuate the ballroom.
Trump , who has faced persistent speculation about his health in recent months , interpreted the comment as a direct incitement to violence. “I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC.”
Melania Trump also weighed in, posting on X Monday morning. “Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
Disney has not yet responded to a request for comment. The company previously suspended Kimmel in September after he made a remark about the alleged shooter of Charlie Kirk, following pressure from FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. He was reinstated shortly thereafter.
