Detailed images of a foldable iPhone dummy unit have emerged, offering the clearest look yet at the device’s apparent final design. According to leaker Sonny Dickson, the upcoming handset may launch exclusively in white, with no other color options currently in the works.
Dummy units serve as non-functional models used primarily for display and by accessory manufacturers, who rely on precise physical dimensions to mass produce cases and other add-ons before an official announcement. Back in April, Dickson shared early-stage dummy models of the foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, giving the first visual confirmation of the device’s passport-style form factor.
This latest dummy unit is far more detailed than previous versions. Earlier this week, leaker “Ice Universe” posted what appeared to be an image of a white foldable iPhone dummy, but Dickson’s model provides a much sharper view of the design and display.
The images align with the growing body of design rumors that have accumulated over recent months. The device is expected to feature a book-style, passport-shaped form with a 4:3 aspect ratio , wider than it is tall and unlike any foldable currently on the market. It is said to include a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner OLED panel, making it just slightly smaller than the iPad mini when opened.
Rumors indicate an ultra-thin 4.5mm titanium frame, with volume buttons relocated to the top edge of the device. There will be no Action Button, and Touch ID is expected to replace Face ID. On the back, a horizontal dual-camera array sits in an iPhone Air-style camera plateau.
The new dummy models reveal several fresh design details. The cover display will be edge-to-edge and slightly curved at the edges. The camera flash sits below the rear microphone within the camera plateau, and the rear microphone now features a new design with seven drilled holes. The front-facing camera on the inner display is positioned at the top left, which will almost certainly affect the Dynamic Island implementation.
Regarding color, Dickson’s observation supports a report from Friday by Weibo leaker “Instant Digital,” who suggested there may be no black finish, with white potentially being the only option. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple planned to avoid bold colors and stick with traditional finishes.
It is worth noting that several recent high-end Apple products, such as the Apple Watch Ultra and Vision Pro, launched with just one color option. This approach is broadly consistent with how Apple has handled generationally significant launches in the past. The iPhone X debuted in November 2017 in only two colors, Silver and Space Gray, at a then-record $999 starting price. The iPhone XS that followed a year later added Gold to the lineup, and Apple may take the same incremental approach with the foldable iPhone over time.
The foldable iPhone is expected to be announced in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. According to Gurman, its starting price will cross the $2,000 threshold.
