The latest iOS 26.4 update introduces several practical features, headlined by a new AI-powered playlist generator for Apple Music. Currently in beta, the Playlist Playground tool allows users to create a custom song collection by simply entering a text prompt. The AI then builds a complete playlist, generating a title, description, and tracklist based on the user’s request.
Beyond AI music curation, Apple Music gains a concert discovery feature that helps users find upcoming live performances. The tool surfaces shows for artists already in your library while also suggesting new acts you might enjoy. Other music-related enhancements include full-screen backgrounds for album and playlist pages and a new Offline Music Recognition tool. This feature can identify songs without an internet connection, automatically delivering the results once the device is back online.
Significant changes are also coming to Family Sharing. Previously, all purchases for a family group were tied to the organizer’s payment method. The update now permits each adult member in a family to add and use their own personal payment methods for App Store and other purchases, offering greater flexibility and autonomy.
The update expands visual expression with eight new emoji, including an orca, a trombone, a landslide, a ballet dancer, and a distorted face. Apple also states that keyboard accuracy has been improved for users who type quickly.
On the accessibility front, iOS 26.4 refines several key settings. The reduce bright effects feature now better minimizes flashes that can occur when tapping interactive elements like buttons. Subtitle and caption settings are now easier to locate in the system menus. Furthermore, Apple reports that the reduce motion setting now more reliably tones down the animations of the Liquid Glass interface effect.
Apple released a corresponding macOS 26.4 update alongside the iOS rollout. For Mac users, Safari gains a new compact tab bar option to save screen space. A notable addition for laptop owners is the ability to set a custom charging limit between 80 and 100 percent, a feature designed to help preserve long-term battery health and lifespan.
