Xbox has pulled back the curtain on its previously leaked limited edition Gears of War: E-Day controller, confirming an official release date of September 30. The accessory arrives just under a week before the game itself hits shelves on October 6.
The new pad, officially named the Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller, takes its visual cues directly from the game’s catastrophic setting. Its design draws inspiration from the E-holes that scar the planet Sera, featuring 3D molded and laser-etched details of cracked asphalt. The red, glowing fissures running through the surface are meant to evoke the raw power of an erupting E-hole, with the iconic Crimson Omen hidden just beneath the fractured exterior.
Beyond the striking top shell, the controller’s details are equally deliberate. The ABXY buttons are blacked out, save for a transparent red X button that stands out as a focal point. Red triggers and a transparent D-pad complete the destruction-themed look, while a dark silver metallic COG tag sits on the battery door, a nod to the game’s “Never Fight Alone” mantra. Textured grips round out the design, offering both style and practicality for extended play sessions.
