Over the weekend, 9to5Google gave readers an early preview of Google’s upcoming Workspace app icon redesign for Gmail, Drive, and other tools. Now, a designer has already recreated the fresh look, letting you start using the new icons before Google officially releases them.
Google is preparing a major visual overhaul for its Workspace app icons. The current four-color design has drawn criticism for making apps hard to distinguish when lined up on a home screen. The new approach embraces the gradient style that first appeared in Gemini-enhanced apps like Google, Home, and Photos. The changes are substantial, and if you disliked the four-color scheme, you may find this a significant upgrade. Apps such as Drive, Meet, and Chat each get their own distinct identity under the new design.
However, Google hasn’t started rolling these icons out yet. An official launch likely isn’t far off , Google I/O 2026 is just weeks away , but in the meantime, you can get a taste of the new look yourself.
Icon designer Andreas Storm has shared recreations of all the new Google icons through Figma, based on the original leak. Another independent designer, known as “GK,” has done the same. Our initial leak versus Storm’s recreations shows how closely they match.
With a Figma account, you can access these files and export the icons for use anywhere. If you have shortcuts for these apps on Windows or macOS, you can swap the old icons for the new ones. On Android, a third-party launcher or shortcut creator can replace app icons, while iOS users can achieve the same through Siri Shortcuts.
To export from Figma, sign into an account, open the editor, and use the Export function to pull each icon. Click the icon name or section on the left sidebar to select the entire file, not just individual layers.
