Slack adds collaborative vibe-coding channels

▼ Summary

– Slack launched Slack Code, a feature with dedicated project-specific channels where teams can collaborate with AI agents like Claude and Devin to build features, fix bugs, or update web pages.
– In these channels, all members have full visibility to conversations, can audit code diffs, view live previews, provide feedback, and approve work before shipping.
– Coding channels automatically archive themselves after task completion and include an audit log for recordkeeping.
– Slack pitches the feature as a way to work with AI agents “like teammates,” a similar approach to SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot agents.
– Slack Code is available today on all Slack plans, integrating with AI agents from founding partners including Claude Code, Devin, Vercel Agent, and GitHub Copilot.

Slack is rolling out a dedicated space for teams to build software side by side with AI agents, eliminating the need to juggle chats, tabs, and separate dev tools. The new Slack Code feature introduces open, project-focused code channels, complete with dedicated user tabs, plus tools for comparing code changes and previewing HTML results before anything goes live.

According to Slack’s announcement, the workflow is straightforward: when a team member wants to build a feature, update a page, or squash a bug, they simply mention a coding agent such as Anthropic’s Claude or Cognition’s Devin. That agent then creates a code channel and gets to work. “There, everyone has full visibility to the conversation, can audit code diffs, get live previews of the agent’s output, give feedback, and approve the work before it ships,” the company explained.

These channels are built to tidy up after themselves, automatically archiving once the assigned task wraps up. They also keep an audit log for tracking and recordkeeping. Slack is positioning the feature as a way to treat AI agents “like teammates,” a pitch that mirrors what SpaceXAI is attempting with its new Grok Bot agents.

The feature is available immediately across all Slack plans. It works with AI agents already listed on Slack’s marketplace, and the company says integrations from its founding partners, including Claude Code, Devin, Vercel Agent, and GitHub Copilot, will fit right in with the code channels without friction.
