Stellar Blade developer ShiftUp has addressed the recently confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 port and offered a cryptic response when asked about the potential arrival of its newly announced follow-up, Stellar Blade: Bloodrain, on the platform.
The original action title is set to launch on Switch 2 in 2026, a reveal made during this week’s Nintendo Direct. Edouard Akopcan, head of publishing at ShiftUp, described the news as “a huge deal for our self-publishing ambitions,” adding that it represents “a first step towards serving as many fans as we can.”
Akopcan elaborated further: “Being able to announce a new platform (NS2) after being exclusive to PS5 is a huge deal for our self-publishing ambitions. It’s a first step towards serving as many fans as we can, but it will take some time for us to build the structure we need to make it happen.”
When a fan directly inquired about a possible Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade: Bloodrain, which was only announced last week, Akopcan sidestepped a concrete answer. Instead, he posed his own rhetorical question: “Would GTA VI run on a Switch 2 device?”
The implication is clear. ShiftUp is currently offering no commitment to a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Bloodrain, though the studio hasn’t ruled it out entirely. For now, attention remains on the original Stellar Blade arriving on Nintendo’s next console. A first look at that version is already available.
