Marshall has unveiled the next generation of its iconic portable audio companion, the Stockwell III Bluetooth speaker, with a strong emphasis on long-term usability and repairability. This marks the first update to the Stockwell line since early 2019, and while it retains the signature aesthetic, complete with a large carrying handle and omnidirectional sound projection (a departure from the front-facing design of classic Marshall amps),the real story lies inside.
Scheduled to hit shelves on August 4th, the Stockwell III will be available for $249.99 through Marshall’s online store and Costco. The most headline-worthy upgrade is the battery: it now delivers over 40 hours of playback, doubling the 20-hour lifespan of its predecessor. But the longevity gains don’t stop there. For the first time, the battery is user-replaceable, a move that echoes the repairability trend Marshall introduced with its Mid A. N. C. wireless headphones last month,a shift likely influenced by incoming EU regulations.
The repairable philosophy extends beyond the power source. Owners can swap out the velvet-lined carrying strap, the front and rear grilles bearing the Marshall logo, and the faux-leather textured silicone sleeve that wraps the speaker for protection. This modular approach not only extends the device’s useful life but also boosts its resale value by making it easier to keep looking fresh.
Additional improvements include a USB-C power bank function, allowing the speaker to charge other devices on the go. The water resistance rating has been upgraded from IPX4 to IP55, offering better protection against splashes and dust ingress. On top of the brass control panel, a new M-button lets users switch to a preset sound profile, while a dedicated media control button handles play, pause, and track skipping. The Stockwell III will be offered in both black and cream finishes.
