Google is introducing a new efficiency tool for its Chrome browser, designed to automate repetitive interactions with its Gemini AI. The feature, called Chrome AI Skills, enables users to save their most useful prompts and execute them instantly across any open webpages with a single click. This innovation directly addresses the common frustration of manually retyping or copying the same instructions while browsing different sites.

According to Chrome product manager Hafsah Ismail, the goal is to streamline workflows that rely on consistent AI commands. “Previously, repeating a task like asking for vegan recipe substitutions meant entering the same prompt on every new page,” Ismail explained. “Skills in Chrome eliminates that friction by letting you save and reuse your most helpful prompts effortlessly.” The feature is now available for Chrome users with their language preference set to US English.

Accessing and managing Chrome Skills is straightforward. Users can type a forward slash ( / ) within the Gemini sidebar and select the compass icon to open the management interface. Prompts can be saved directly from a desktop chat history in Gemini, and these saved Skills will then sync and be available on any other desktop where the same Google account is signed into Chrome. This seamless integration aims to eliminate the need for manual note-taking or copying text from external documents.

Early testers have already created practical applications for the tool. Google shared examples including Skills to calculate nutritional information from online recipes and commands that generate side-by-side product comparisons while shopping across multiple browser tabs. To help users get started quickly, Google is also launching a curated library of preset Skills. These ready-made prompts can be saved and used immediately, and they are fully customizable, offering a helpful foundation without requiring users to build every command from scratch.
