Later this month, one of 2025’s best games is getting a proper Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and it actually feels worth replaying. While the novelty of upgraded ports has worn thin, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is a rare exception. Its branching narrative paths and dice-driven tension make a second playthrough feel essential, not redundant.
Developer Gareth Damian Martin of Jump Over The Age has confirmed that both Citizen Sleeper – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will launch on 25th June. Pre-orders are now live on the eShop, and anyone who already owns the Switch 1 version of either game can upgrade for free at launch. That’s a welcome gesture for existing fans.
These new editions deliver 4K resolution when docked and 1080p in handheld mode, alongside a smooth 60fps performance boost. There’s no confirmation yet on Mouse Mode support, but given the game’s tabletop RPG roots, it feels like an obvious addition.
If you missed them the first time, the Citizen Sleeper series is a narrative-driven space saga inspired by tabletop roleplaying games. Every major decision hinges on the roll of a die, creating tense, unpredictable outcomes. The writing ranks among the best in recent years, with richly drawn characters and high-stakes scenarios that stick with you. The sequel earned multiple award nominations and landed on several Game of the Year lists, including our own.
Martin also teased a World Premiere for their next project at the upcoming PC Gaming Show. Details are scarce so far, but given that all three of their previous titles have made the leap to Nintendo hardware, there’s good reason to hope the next one follows suit.
