Google’s Gemini app is taking a significant step forward with the introduction of a new beta feature called Personal Intelligence. This update allows the AI to deliver more customized and relevant responses by connecting to your personal data across key Google services like Gmail, Photos, and YouTube history. The goal is to create a more intuitive and helpful assistant that understands your individual context.

The company announced this beta is launching initially in the United States, calling it the next phase in making Gemini more proactive and powerful for users. This personalized functionality is also slated to arrive soon within the AI Mode of Google Search, broadening its potential impact. While previous versions could fetch data from connected apps, the latest Gemini 3 upgrade enables the AI to reason across that information, surfacing insights and suggestions before you even ask.

Access to this beta is beginning a rollout to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. Once activated, it functions seamlessly across web browsers, Android, and iOS devices, working with all available models in the Gemini interface. Google plans to expand availability to more countries and to users on the free tier in the near future. It’s important to note that for now, this is only for personal Google accounts and is not available for Workspace, enterprise, or education users.

User privacy and control are central to this new feature. The experience is turned off by default, meaning you must actively choose to connect your apps. You have granular control, able to connect some services while leaving others disconnected. Even with apps linked, Google states that not every response will be personalized. You retain the ability to opt out of personalization for any specific reply by using the “try again” button.

For ongoing conversations, Gemini will reference your past chats by default to maintain helpful context, but you can disable this by turning off the “Past Gemini chats” setting. All past conversations can be managed or deleted at any time. Users can also provide direct feedback on personalization via the thumbs-down button.

From a digital marketing perspective, the integration of this technology into Google Search’s AI Mode is particularly noteworthy. If search experiences become highly personalized, tracking visibility and performance in these AI tools could become considerably more complex. The shift toward deeply individualized results may challenge traditional methods of monitoring search rankings and require new strategies for understanding audience reach.
