Shopify has officially launched Campaign Autopilot, a new AI-powered marketing automation tool designed to take the heavy lifting out of multi-channel advertising and email marketing. The feature is now available in early access directly from the Shopify admin panel.

Here’s what it does. Campaign Autopilot uses artificial intelligence to plan, create, and run marketing campaigns on behalf of merchants across platforms including Meta, Shop Campaigns, and email. Additional channels are already on the roadmap, with integrations for ChatGPT Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and Snapchat expected soon. Instead of requiring merchants to manually build and manage each campaign, the system handles everything from campaign creation and budget allocation to ongoing performance optimization.

Why this matters. For many small and mid-sized businesses, running sophisticated multi-channel campaigns has traditionally required either an agency or an in-house marketing specialist. Campaign Autopilot lowers that barrier significantly. Merchants simply set a monthly budget, choose which channels to connect, and define approval rules and guardrails. From there, the system creates and launches campaigns, allocates spending across channels, adjusts budgets based on real-time performance, recommends email automations, and continuously monitors results to make ongoing improvements. Merchants retain full control, with the ability to approve campaigns before launch, modify budgets, or pause activity at any time.

What sets it apart. Shopify is positioning Campaign Autopilot as a direct alternative to both traditional campaign management tools and agency-led marketing. The company says it leverages performance data and patterns from millions of Shopify stores to inform recommendations and budget decisions. Importantly, the system operates independently of any existing campaigns, so merchants already running Meta or Shop ads won’t see those campaigns altered or disrupted.

The bigger picture. This launch is part of a broader push by Shopify to embed AI deeper into merchant workflows, moving beyond ecommerce infrastructure and into growth and customer acquisition. It also reflects a wider industry trend toward autonomous marketing systems that can execute campaigns with minimal human involvement while continuously optimizing performance.

What to watch next. Shopify plans to expand channel support in the coming months, including those integrations with ChatGPT Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and Snapchat. The company also notes that merchants can use its AI assistant, Sidekick, to review recommendations, trigger actions, and monitor campaign performance.

The update was first spotted by digital marketing consultant Susan Richards-Benson, who suggested on LinkedIn that the feature could be a game-changer for smaller ecommerce brands.
