Sheikh Mohammed Orders GITEX 2026 to Become World’s Largest Tech & AI Event

GITEX TechCation 2026 is poised to become the world’s largest technology and artificial intelligence event, following a directive from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This ambitious initiative will unfold under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The event aims to cement Dubai’s status as a premier year-end destination for innovation, investment, and lifestyle, creating an immersive, citywide celebration that brings together top technology firms, startups, investors, and creative minds.

Scheduled for December 7 to 11, 2026, at Expo City Dubai, GITEX TechCation will anchor the planet’s most extensive tech and startup event network. It strategically places itself at the core of Dubai’s bustling lifestyle, cultural, and tourism season, offering a unique convergence of business and leisure.

A significant step in preparing for this groundbreaking global event involves a strategic partnership between the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). This collaboration was formalized by Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of DWTC. LohMirmand described GITEX TechCation as a fundamental reconfiguration of global tech events, moving beyond traditional exhibition halls to harness the full energy of Dubai’s culture and spirit. The event advocates a “Tech Hard, Live Hard” ethos through a deeply immersive citywide activation.

Through this partnership, GITEX will leverage DET’s extensive hospitality, tourism, and cultural networks to curate specialized programs, campaigns, and experiences. The goal is to transform Dubai into a live, interconnected hub of technology, culture, and tourism. The program is designed to support DET’s objective of making Dubai the best city to visit, live, work, and invest in. It encourages extended networking itineraries and longer stays, welcoming international executives and investors to experience the city’s dynamic and diverse offerings.

His Excellency Issam Kazim emphasized that GITEX has always been more than a simple tech exhibition. Guided by the city’s visionary leadership, this new era will further elevate its global importance.
