The Motorola Edge (2026) is finally arriving in the US and Canada, but it breaks from recent trends in a significant way. Instead of continuing the march toward larger screens, this latest model shrinks down to a 6.3-inch OLED panel, a notable departure from the 6.6-inch Edge (2024) and the 6.7-inch Edge (2025). Motorola’s US division has a history of charting its own course with the Edge lineup, and this year, that means a compact mid-range contender that bucks the industry’s “bigger is better” philosophy.

While the Edge 60 Neo launched in Europe last year without crossing the Atlantic, the new Motorola Edge (2026) fills that gap for North American buyers. Starting June 11, it will be available unlocked from Motorola.com and Best Buy for $600. On the same day, carriers including AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Spectrum Wireless, and Xfinity Mobile will offer their own plans. Canadian customers can purchase unlocked units via Motorola.ca on June 11, with local carrier availability to follow.

The phone’s 6.3-inch “Extreme OLED” display boasts a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a staggering 5,200 nits of peak brightness, making it one of the brightest panels in its class. However, the internal hardware tells a more modest story. Powering the device is a MediaTek Dimensity 7450, a mild upgrade over the Dimensity 7400 found in last year’s model. Motorola claims a 7% improvement in AI performance, but that may not excite power users. The phone ships with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of storage, which is half the capacity of the Edge (2025).

On the software front, Motorola promises three Android OS updates, a solid commitment by its standards. The phone also features Smart Connect, Motorola’s file and app syncing utility, which enables seamless integration across devices.

Photography is handled by a dual 50MP rear camera system. The primary sensor is a Lytia 710 (1/1.56-inch) with OIS and 4K video recording. A 50MP ultra-wide lens offers a 122-degree field of view and Macro Vision mode. The front-facing camera is also a 50MP sensor. For telephoto shots, Motorola includes a 3x optical zoom lens with OIS, but it uses the same 10MP sensor as the previous generation, missing an opportunity to upgrade.

Battery capacity sits at 5,000mAh, down slightly from the 5,200mAh cell in the Edge (2025). However, given the smaller screen, the trade-off is reasonable. Wired charging via 60W TurboPower can deliver a full day’s charge in 7 minutes, while 15W TurboPower wireless charging achieves the same in 34 minutes.

Durability gets a boost with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and an IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust resistance. Motorola claims double the drop and scratch resistance compared to its predecessor. The phone also features stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

For those preferring wireless audio, Motorola unveiled the Moto Buds 2 alongside the phone. These earbuds feature a dual-driver design with an 11mm dynamic driver and a 6mm micro planar driver. They are Hi-Res Audio certified, support Dolby Atmos spatial sound, and offer Dual Connection over Bluetooth 6.0, allowing simultaneous pairing with a phone and laptop. A low-latency Gaming Mode is also included.

Active noise cancellation reaches 55dB, up from 50dB on the previous generation. Battery life is rated at 11 hours of continuous playback, extending to 48 hours with the charging case. A 10-minute quick charge provides 3 hours of listening time. The Moto Buds 2 will launch in the US on July 2 in Pantone Carbon for $100.

The Motorola Edge (2026) is available in Pantone Martini Olive and can be purchased directly from Motorola US and Motorola Canada.
