According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the incentive will debut in Apple retail stores next week. In a post on social media, Gurman explained: “Apple is planning a pretty big Apple Card sign-up incentive for as early as next week in retail stores: if you sign up for a new card, buy AirPods Pro 3, then you’ll get $249 cash back. In other words, if you get an Apple Card, you get free AirPods.”
It remains unclear whether the promotion will extend to online purchases. Based on Gurman’s remarks, customers will likely need to visit a local Apple Store to take advantage of the offer.
Apple frequently offers sign-up bonuses for new Apple Card users, though they are typically far less generous and often require a referral from an existing cardholder. As Gurman points out, this promotion essentially provides a free pair of AirPods Pro 3 in exchange for opening a card. That is especially noteworthy because the Apple Card carries no annual fee.
In addition, a separate Apple Card promotion is running through May 18, offering $100 in bonus Daily Cash when a co-owner is added to an existing account.
The Daily Cash rewards program allows cardholders to earn cash back that can be deposited directly into an Apple Cash account or an Apple Card Savings Account.
This promotion arrives during the ongoing transition of the Apple Card from Goldman Sachs to Chase. Apple finalized a deal with Chase earlier this year to take over as the card’s issuer, with the full migration expected to take about two years.
