Spotify has flirted with fitness before, offering customized running playlists, but now it’s making a serious push into the wellness space. The streaming giant is launching curated playlists and video content from popular creators such as Yoga with Kassandra, Sweaty Studio, Chloe Ting, and Pilates Body by Raven. Even more significant for Premium subscribers: access to more than 1,400 on-demand classes from Peloton.
The company has already stretched far beyond its music roots, adding audiobooks, podcasts, and video. Moving into fitness and wellness feels like a natural next step, especially given the massive number of exercise-themed playlists already on the platform. Still, it adds another layer to what is becoming an increasingly crowded and cluttered app.
A new Fitness hub will serve as the central destination for users, offering playlists and structured workout sessions. Categories include outdoor runs, strength training, yoga, and meditation. Notably, Spotify emphasizes that none of these workouts require specialized gear , no Peloton bike or treadmill necessary.
The fitness content will roll out across mobile, desktop, and TV apps, with seamless cross-platform switching. According to a company blog post, users can “start a video workout on your TV, switch to audio on your phone for a run, and wind down with guided recovery on your smart speaker.”
Peloton content will be available only in select markets at launch, and most workouts are in English, though some Spanish and German options are included.
