Overcast creator’s new app upgrades Apple Reminders

▼ Summary
– Marco Arment launched Unforforgetful, a task-management app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, designed for people who miss reminders, with persistent notifications, flexible snoozing, and a simple interface.
– The app, described as “Reminders for ADHD,” addresses three flaws in Apple’s Reminders: tasks without alerts can disappear, dismissed notifications don’t return, and snooze options are inflexible.
– Unforgetful works with Apple’s Reminders data, so users can create tasks via Siri and sync across apps without importing or exporting, and it avoids folders, tags, and overdue labels to reduce complexity.
– It offers repeated notifications until task completion, spaced-out alerts for multiple due tasks, skipped backlogs for recurring tasks, and delayed location reminders.
– Available on the App Store for all three platforms, it requires a subscription after a one-month free trial, with one subscription covering iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Marco Arment, the developer behind the popular podcast app Overcast, has released a new task-management tool designed for those who find standard reminders too easy to ignore. The new app, called Unforgetful, is now available across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and it focuses on persistent notifications, flexible snooze controls, and a stripped-down interface that removes the clutter often found in competing apps.
Arment describes Unforgetful as “Reminders for ADHD,” a concept he outlined in a blog post introducing the software. He built the app earlier this year after identifying three persistent frustrations with Apple’s native Reminders: tasks without alerts can vanish from view, dismissed notifications never resurface, and the snooze options are too rigid for real-world needs.
Rather than replacing Apple’s Reminders system, Unforgetful integrates directly with the same underlying data. That means users can still create tasks through Siri and switch seamlessly between Unforgetful, Reminders, and other compatible apps without any import or export steps. The app’s core behavior is to keep notifying you about a task repeatedly until you either mark it complete or delete it, ensuring nothing quietly falls off your radar.
The interface deliberately avoids folders, tags, overdue labels, and other organizational layers. Arment argues these features often make tasks harder to track down or introduce unnecessary judgment about what to tackle next. Instead, the app keeps things minimal, with widgets, Lock Screen controls, and Control Center shortcuts providing quick access.
Unforgetful also addresses several basic shortcomings of Apple’s Reminders. It can stagger notifications when multiple tasks are due at the same time, skip missed backlogs for recurring items, and delay location-based alerts until a few minutes after you arrive at a destination. These tweaks are meant to reduce notification fatigue and make the app feel more responsive to how people actually manage their day.
The app is available now on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. After a one-month free trial, Unforgetful requires a subscription, and a single plan covers all three platforms.
