The upcoming Apple TV 4K refresh has been a long time coming, but according to a fresh report from Bloomberg, the device is finally on track to debut this fall. After what could become the longest gap between model updates, the new hardware is expected to arrive with three key upgrades at the forefront.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman detailed the broader pipeline of Apple products slated for this year and into 2027. While much of the information covered familiar ground, the update on the next-generation Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini stood out. Gurman states that both devices are currently in “very advanced testing” and that he would be “surprised” if they did not launch before the end of 2025. However, he cautions that users should not expect a radical redesign. Instead, the focus will be on software-driven improvements, specifically support for the new Siri and a revised remote control.

Previous reporting from Gurman has also pointed to a new full-size HomePod coming with similar enhancements, rounding out Apple’s smart home ambitions.

The new Apple TV 4K is expected to ship with three primary features: Siri AI, a revised remote, and additional Apple Intelligence capabilities. Notably, Siri AI was absent from the tvOS 27 announcements at WWDC, suggesting that the advanced assistant will require the new hardware to function. The updated remote may also include a new Ultra Wideband chip, similar to the one found in the AirTag 2, enabling Precision Finding for easier location.

Beyond Siri, the broader Apple Intelligence ecosystem offers several features that could translate well to the TV experience. Possibilities include visual intelligence for on-screen content, enhanced Photos editing tools, upgrades to HomeKit Secure Video, and improvements within the redesigned Podcasts app in tvOS 27.
