Native Instruments Komplete 26 debuts weird synths, experimental pianos

The latest edition of Native Instruments’ flagship music production suite has arrived, bringing 62 fresh instruments and effects to the table. Upgraders from Komplete 15 will find some relief, though even moving up to the Collector’s Edition from a previous version still requires a $399 payment. Notably, Native Instruments has shifted from sequential numbering to a year-based naming convention for 2026.

For most producers, Komplete 26 Standard delivers everything they could reasonably need. Absynth 6 and Massive X cover a vast range of synthesis possibilities, from warm analog emulations to futuristic soundscapes. Kontakt 8 remains the gold standard for sample-based instruments, offering deep libraries of orchestras, drums, choirs, and more. It also includes built-in tools for sequencing and chord progression generation, making it a valuable creative partner when inspiration runs dry. Guitar Rig 7 Pro handles effects processing and amp modeling with authority. Rounding out the package are mixing and mastering plugins from iZotope, including Ozone 12, Neutron 5, and Nectar 4, giving producers professional-grade tools for finishing tracks.

Moving up to the Ultimate or Collector’s Edition unlocks some notable exclusives. The Claire and Claire: Avant instruments are a pair of meticulously sampled Steinway D grand pianos, one capturing pristine acoustic tones and the other exploring experimental, textural territories. Additional additions like LCO Producer Strings and Moments: Vocal Clouds are clearly aimed at composers working on film, game, or television scores. All these extra sampled instruments and expansion packs come with a significant storage cost. The Collector’s Edition demands a staggering 1.6 TB of hard drive space, so plan your storage accordingly before committing to the full suite.
