Nintendo continues to expand its classic gaming library with a significant new addition. The company has released Wario World for subscribers of the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, bringing the GameCube classic to modern consoles. This release follows closely on the heels of other recent additions like Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Tonic Trouble for the Nintendo 64 library.

Originally launched in 2003, this title stands out as Wario’s first and only 3D platforming adventure. It was developed by the acclaimed studio Treasure, known for iconic games such as Gunstar Heroes and Sin and Punishment. The game’s premise centers on Wario’s quest for revenge after a cursed black jewel transforms his castle and steals his vast fortune. Players guide the garlic-loving anti-hero through four distinct stages, battling enemies, gathering coins and treasure, and freeing trapped Spritelings.

Wario’s arsenal features a suite of powerful and unconventional moves designed for both combat and puzzle-solving. Techniques like the Wild Swing-Ding and Piledriver are essential for defeating foes and dismantling the various obstacles blocking the path forward. Nintendo’s official description aptly frames the experience as a “garlic-fueled rampage,” capturing the game’s unique, chaotic spirit.

This release is available simultaneously in all regions, including Japan. Treasure has noted that this addition means six of its classic titles are now accessible through the Switch Online service. Alongside Wario World, players can enjoy Sin & Punishment and Gunstar Heroes on the Nintendo 64 app, while the Sega Genesis collection includes Dynamite Headdy, Light Crusader, and Alien Soldier.

The GameCube ‘Nintendo Classics’ catalog has seen steady growth since its introduction in June. Previous additions include high-energy sports title Super Mario Strikers, the spooky adventure Luigi’s Mansion, and the quirky cult favorite Chibi-Robo. These games joined an already impressive launch lineup featuring F-Zero GX, SoulCalibur II, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Looking ahead, Nintendo has hinted at more beloved GameCube games coming to the service. Highly anticipated titles such as Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Pokémon Colosseum are among those teased for future release, suggesting the library will continue to grow with fan-favorite classics.
