If you grew up with Donkey Kong 64, you are in for a treat. Nintendo has officially confirmed that the 1999 Rare classic will join the Switch Online + Expansion Pack library starting June 4, 2026.

This beloved Nintendo 64 title brings back the iconic DK Rap, along with a full roster of Kongs both familiar and obscure. Nintendo’s press release confirms that the game supports multiplayer and split-screen action, letting you and three friends battle it out in competitive arenas. Here is a closer look at the adventure that awaits as you cross islands with the Kong family and take on King K. Rool:

“With his mechanical island stranded off the coast of DK Island, K. Rool kidnaps the Kong family to distract Donkey Kong. It falls to our furry hero to rescue his friends, reclaim his Golden Bananas, and save his homeland from certain destruction. Players can choose from five Kong members, either playing solo through a quirky adventure or facing off with friends in competitive battle arenas! Join Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong as they fight to keep DK Island safe from K. Rool and his Kremling crew. Climb, swim, and jump with each of the five Kongs through treacherous, puzzle-filled areas while using their special abilities and upgrades. Encounter friendly aid from other Kongs and a caged Kremling named K. Lumsy. Hunt for collectibles, play wacky minigames solo, or battle in four-player split-screen arenas. There is enough fun to make you go bananas!”

Nintendo has also confirmed that Japan will receive the same title on its Switch Online + Expansion Pack service next week. The Japanese trailer differs from the global version, and screenshots from Nintendo’s Japanese website have already surfaced.
