Retroid’s announcement arrives just after the publication of RH Weekly, revealing not one but two new additions to its portable gaming lineup. The Pocket G2 serves as a refreshed version of the Retroid Pocket 5, replacing the Snapdragon 865 with the newer G2 Gen 2 chip that debuted at GDC 2025. It comes equipped with 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, along with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED screen and a 5,000mAh battery. The device will be offered in five distinct color options.
In terms of cost, the Pocket G2 carries a retail price of $219, which may explain the recent price reduction seen on the RP5. However, an introductory discount of $20 is available for the first two weeks, bringing the price down to just $199. Shipping for the GC, Gray, and Black models kicks off October 29, while Teal and Yellow versions will begin shipping November 5.
Meanwhile, the Retroid Pocket 6 retains a design that will look familiar to fans but steps up performance significantly. It is driven by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, making it the most powerful Retroid handheld released so far. Buyers can choose between 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM, paired with either 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage.
The device features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, promising smooth and vibrant visuals. A sizable 6,000mAh battery is included, which should easily support extended gaming sessions. Interestingly, while the Pocket G2 runs Android 15, the Pocket 6 ships with Android 13.
Although Retroid has not provided a specific release date for the Pocket 6 beyond the January window, pre-order pricing has been confirmed. The 8GB/128GB model starts at $209, while the 12GB/256GB version is priced at $259. After the pre-order period ends, these prices will increase to $229 and $279, respectively.
