Meta’s latest Ray-Ban smart glasses have arrived with a headline-grabbing upgrade: battery life that now doubles the previous generation’s performance. The new Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 models, available for order starting at $379, promise up to eight hours of continuous use on a single charge, a substantial leap from the earlier four-hour limit. Alongside this endurance boost, the glasses introduce enhanced video capabilities and several smart features aimed at making them more versatile for everyday use.

Battery improvements don’t stop with the glasses themselves. The accompanying charging case now supplies an extra 48 hours of power, up from 32 hours, and can rapidly recharge the glasses to 50% in just 20 minutes. This makes the system far more practical for extended wear, whether you’re capturing moments or staying connected throughout the day.

On the imaging front, these smart glasses now support 3K video recording at 30 frames per second, placing them in direct competition with other premium models like Oakley’s HSTN line. Additional recording options include 1440p at 30fps and 1200p at 60fps, with clips lasting up to three minutes. Later this year, Meta plans to roll out software updates enabling hyperlapse and slow-motion recording, broadening creative possibilities for users.

Audio enhancements are also part of the package. A forthcoming “conversation focus” mode will use the built-in speakers to amplify the voice of someone you’re speaking with, making conversations clearer in noisy environments. Live translation capabilities are expanding as well, with support for German and Portuguese joining existing languages.

For those familiar with the first-generation model, the new version retains the same sleek design and familiar functionality, now offered in Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner styles. While the core experience remains consistent, the upgrades under the hood, especially the extended battery and improved camera, make these a compelling step up. The original model will remain on sale at a lower entry point of $299, giving consumers more choice depending on their needs and budget.
