Destiny 2 Permanently Disabling Unpatchable Gear

▼ Summary

– One final hotfix remains for Destiny 2 after Bungie cut nearly the entire team following the announcement of end-of-service for the live title.
– The remaining team is rushing to release a few key fixes but will miss some issues, forcing Bungie to permanently disable certain gear or aspects of gear rather than fix or rebalance them.
– Two new set bonuses from dungeon armor are being permanently disabled for Destiny 2 PvP.
– The bonuses caused extremely rapid health and super generation, leading to supers appearing in the second round of Trials or dictating 1v1 fights.

Destiny 2 is down to its final hotfix. Just one remains.

After Bungie announced the end of live service for the title and subsequently cut nearly the entire Destiny 2 team, the remaining developers are racing to deliver a handful of essential patches. But time and resources are running thin. Some issues simply cannot be fixed or rebalanced within the remaining window, forcing Bungie to take drastic action. The studio has begun permanently disabling certain gear and specific aspects of gear rather than attempting repairs that would require extensive testing.

The first instance of this new policy has already arrived. Two new set bonuses from dungeon armor will be permanently deactivated in Destiny 2 PvP. The decision stems from problems with extremely rapid health regeneration and super energy generation. In practice, these bonuses allowed players to activate their Super as early as the second round of Trials of Osiris, and they frequently decided the outcome of 1v1 engagements by granting one combatant a decisive advantage.
