Better yet, thanks to Microsoft’s robust backwards compatibility program, these games run beautifully on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S hardware.

A few clarifications before the comments light up. Street Fighter IV is on sale, but you can upgrade to the superior Ultra Street Fighter IV for just $3 more, which is well worth it. Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is technically a remaster of a PS2 and Dreamcast-era title, but it remains the best way to play this spin-off before the rumored Code Veronica remake arrives next year. As for Mass Effect, the Xbox 360 version has some bugs, but in my opinion, it still delivers the best experience of the series’ finest entry. However, the Legendary Edition remasters are also discounted right now, giving you all three games for just $6 if you prefer a polished package.
You might also notice that Bastion, the isometric action-RPG from Supergiant Games and arguably the best Summer of Arcade indie release ever, is not on this list. That’s because it’s currently full price at $15. But today marks its 15th anniversary, and honestly, that’s still a bargain at a dollar for every year it’s been around.
