Starting today, Comcast Xfinity is rolling out a same-day Wi-Fi delivery option that eliminates the frustrating wait for new equipment. New subscribers in nearly 20 major markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, can now receive their Xfinity Gateway router on the very day they place an order.
During checkout for Xfinity internet plans, eligible customers can select the same-day Gateway delivery feature. Comcast promises the equipment will arrive at their door “within hours.” Once it arrives, users simply set up the device themselves using the Xfinity app and activate service nearly instantly. This replaces the typical multi-day gap of being offline while waiting for hardware to ship.
“In a world where almost everything is instant, home internet shouldn’t be an exception,” said Eric Jagher, connectivity head at Comcast’s Xfinity. “With Xfinity’s same-day Wi-Fi, we’re giving customers access to the nation’s fastest, most reliable connectivity the moment they need it.”
Comcast claims its Xfinity service is now the “first wired major internet provider” to offer this level of rapid connectivity. The company plans to extend the service to all Xfinity regions by early next year. For customers not yet eligible for doorstep delivery, an alternative is available: same-day in-store pickup at any of the 700 Xfinity retail locations across the United States.
