A Saudi biotech startup has achieved a major milestone, securing the national title in a prestigious global technology competition. NanoPalm has been named the Saudi Arabian winner of KPMG’s Global Tech Innovator contest, earning the opportunity to advance to the international finals scheduled for November in Lisbon. There, the company will present its groundbreaking work alongside leading innovators from more than twenty countries.

This annual competition, now in its fifth iteration, seeks out the most promising early and growth-stage companies using technology to redefine entire sectors. NanoPalm stood out with its advanced in vivo gene therapy platform, which relies on programmable lipid nanoparticles. The firm’s proprietary manufacturing approach produces stable, self-targeting LNPs engineered to bypass the shortcomings of existing delivery systems, offering a new pathway for the future of drug and gene-based treatments.

Judges were particularly impressed by the startup’s integration of artificial intelligence, the scalability of its technology, and the significant healthcare implications it presents. Aljohara Ababtain, Senior Deep NanoTech Researcher at NanoPalm, delivered the award-winning pitch, stating, “We are creating a new standard for gene therapy, one that is programmable, widely accessible, and aligned with the biotech aspirations of Vision 2030. Our AI-driven platform is designed to make drug delivery faster and safer, reshaping medical treatment as we know it.”

The competition featured several other notable finalists, including AILA, Digital Petroleum, Lisan, Mirai Solar, Plastus, Saher Flow Solutions, SARsatX, and Sparklehaze. Each was assessed based on their potential for market disruption, degree of innovation, commercial viability, demonstrated progress, and the quality of their presentation.

Samer Abdallah, Head of ICT Sector at KPMG Middle East, extended congratulations to all participants, emphasizing the importance of their contributions. “These finalists demonstrate exceptional vision and determination in tackling pressing global issues,” he remarked. “We wish NanoPalm the very best as they represent Saudi Arabia on the world stage.”

This victory not only highlights NanoPalm’s technological achievements but also underscores the expanding influence of Saudi Arabia in the global biotech arena, driven by the strategic objectives of Vision 2030. The company is now poised to introduce its innovative gene therapy solutions to an international audience, potentially transforming patient care worldwide.
