▼ Summary

– Next Apple TV 4K is rumored to feature an A17 Pro chip or newer, increased RAM, Siri AI support, an Apple-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7, and an updated Siri Remote.
– The device is expected to have at least 8GB of RAM (up from 4GB) to support Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features.
– tvOS 27 code references suggest Siri AI will debut this fall, possibly with a dedicated Siri app on Apple TV, but it may be limited to the new model.
– The N1 chip adds Wi-Fi 7 (up to 4x faster than Wi-Fi 6) and Bluetooth 6 support, while the design remains similar to the current model with no built-in camera confirmed.
– The new Apple TV is likely to be announced in September or October 2025, following recent price increases that raised the current model to $199–$249.

The next-generation Apple TV 4K is shaping up to be a major upgrade, with rumors pointing to at least five significant new features. These include a more powerful A17 Pro chip or newer, increased RAM, Siri AI integration, an Apple-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and a refreshed Siri Remote. Here is a breakdown of everything expected from the upcoming set-top box, along with potential release timing.

A17 Pro Chip or Newer

According to MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, who routinely uncovers references to unreleased devices in Apple’s code, the next Apple TV will feature the A17 Pro chip. However, given that it has been roughly four years since the last model launched, it is entirely possible Apple opts for an even more recent A18 Pro or A19 Pro processor instead.

For context, the current Apple TV runs on the A15 Bionic chip, which first appeared in the iPhone 13 lineup back in 2021. Moving to an A17 Pro or newer would deliver noticeably faster performance, hardware-accelerated ray tracing for richer game graphics, and a boost in RAM. It would also likely pave the way for select Apple Intelligence and Siri AI capabilities.

Increased RAM

As part of the performance leap, the next Apple TV is expected to come with more memory. With an A17 Pro chip or newer, the device should carry at least 8GB of RAM, doubling the 4GB found in the current generation. That additional memory is seen as a prerequisite for running some Apple Intelligence features, including the anticipated Siri AI.

Siri AI

Reports from 9to5Mac indicate that tvOS 27 will bring Siri AI to the Apple TV 4K. The outlet found a new Siri entry in the tvOS 27 app list when running Device Hub via Xcode in macOS 27. The entry includes a string labeled “com.apple.campo,” and prior reporting has identified “campos” as Apple’s internal codename for Siri AI. Comparing the tvOS 26 and tvOS 27 simulator modes confirms that Siri is absent from the older version, making it a fresh addition this fall. It is possible Apple introduces a dedicated Siri app on the Apple TV, though that is not certain, since the app list also includes system-level functions beyond user-facing apps.

Siri AI will likely be reserved for the new Apple TV model, as older devices may lack the necessary RAM and processing power.

N1 Chip With Wi-Fi 7

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported in 2024 that the next Apple TV would include Apple’s own combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, widely believed to be the N1 chip that debuted in the iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air. That chip supports Wi-Fi 7, a significant step up from the Wi-Fi 6 found in the current Apple TV.

Wi-Fi 7 offers increased bandwidth, partly because it can transmit data across the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands simultaneously, provided both the device and router support it. Theoretically, Wi-Fi 7 is up to four times faster than Wi-Fi 6, though real-world speeds are often constrained by internet service providers and other external factors. In the latest iPhones, the N1 chip also includes Bluetooth 6, which would bring lower latency and other advantages over the current Apple TV’s Bluetooth 5.

Updated Siri Remote

Both Mark Gurman and findings from macOS 26.7 code suggest the new Apple TV will ship with an upgraded Siri Remote. That said, the code did not reveal any concrete details about what changes are planned for the remote.

Design

The next Apple TV is expected to keep a similar design to the current model. In 2024, there were reports that Apple had “discussed” building an Apple TV with a built-in camera for FaceTime and gesture controls, but there is no indication that such a feature is coming to this iteration.

tvOS 17 added a FaceTime app to the Apple TV, letting users make video calls using the rear camera on a connected iPhone or iPad. If a camera were built directly into the Apple TV, users would no longer need an external device for video calls on the big screen. tvOS 26 has also enhanced FaceTime in ways that would suit a camera-equipped Apple TV, including Contact Posters, expanded Live Captions support for additional languages like French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Spanish, and onscreen notifications for FaceTime audio and phone calls that can be answered via HomePod speakers or an iPhone.

Until then, the Continuity Camera feature remains the workaround, allowing users to pair an iPhone or iPad camera with the Apple TV 4K (3rd generation).

Launch Timing and Pricing

The new Apple TV is expected to be announced in September or October, either at the annual iPhone event or a follow-up presentation. Apple reportedly plans to unveil several new smart home products this year, including the Apple TV, an all-new smart home hub available in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, and an updated HomePod mini.

For reference, the previous four Apple TV models were announced as follows:

  • Apple TV 4K (3rd generation): October 2022In June, Apple raised prices on 14 products, including the Apple TV 4K. In the U.S., the Wi-Fi model with 64GB of storage now starts at $199, up from $129, while the Wi-Fi + Ethernet model with 128GB starts at $249, up from $149. It remains unclear whether the next Apple TV will hold those price points or push even higher.
