Google has rolled out Google Ads API v25.1, a significant update that introduces fresh capabilities for conversion measurement, brand lift analysis, competitive benchmarking, brand sentiment tracking, and loyalty program reporting.

The Aug. 19 release functions as a seamless upgrade for v25 users, though developers must refresh their client libraries and code before tapping into the new functionality.

What’s new. The update broadens what advertisers and third-party platforms can extract and examine through the API. Most of the headline additions center on measurement and richer performance analytics.

Key features include full API support for lift studies, newly available benchmark metrics, brand sentiment data, loyalty program segmentation, and a metric that reveals conversion value prior to Google’s own value adjustments.

Lift measurement. Developers now have read-only API resources for Conversion Lift and Brand Lift studies. This enables inspection of study configurations, flight dates, associated campaigns, and conversion goals.

The release also brings 24 additional Conversion Lift metrics, winner score metrics for statistical analysis, and Brand Lift dimensions spanning age range, campaign, device, gender, and video.

One important constraint: the Brand Lift and Conversion Lift API features are restricted to allowlisted Google Ads accounts for now. Advertisers must reach out to their Google representative to gain access.

Benchmarking gets more granular. The BenchmarksService now allows performance comparisons against advertisers within specific Product & Service Categories, moving beyond broader benchmark groupings.

Google is also introducing metrics like aggregate cost and views, which complement share-based measurements such as share of voice. This gives advertisers and reporting platforms additional context around competitive standing.

Brand sentiment comes to the API. The ContentCreatorInsightsService now includes brand sentiment data. Developers can pull sentiment distributions and summaries for creators and brands, expanding the type of intelligence that can feed into advertising tools and reporting systems.

Loyalty reporting expands. Advertisers can now segment reporting metrics based on the loyalty program tier of users who converted. Additionally, loyalty membership is now a primary dimension for conversion value rules, making it possible to flag when a loyalty condition was met as part of a conversion value rule.

Original conversion values. A new `originalconversionvalue` metric captures the value of a biddable conversion before any conversion value rules or customer lifecycle goal adjustments are applied.

This is especially valuable for advertisers and measurement platforms aiming to see how much Google’s value adjustments influence the figures ultimately used for reporting and optimization.

Reach planning. Parental status targeting has been added to the ReachPlanService, allowing it to factor into targeting for reach forecasting and plannable product discovery.

Why we care. The most compelling additions revolve around measurement and transparency. Lift study data, category-specific benchmarks, and original conversion values give advertisers and third-party tools more ways to assess performance beyond standard campaign metrics. The ability to view conversion values before Google’s adjustments is particularly useful for teams that want to separate underlying conversion data from values later modified by rules or lifecycle goals.

What developers need to do. Google confirms v25.1 is a drop-in upgrade for v25. Developers using Google’s client libraries must download the latest versions before the new features become accessible.

Google has also arranged a live walkthrough of the release for Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. ET, available via its developer community and YouTube channel.

Bottom line. Google Ads API v25.1 is primarily a measurement and insights release. It grants developers deeper access to lift studies, competitive benchmarks, brand sentiment, loyalty performance, and the raw conversion values that sit behind Google’s optimization adjustments.
