Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner has moved to calm growing concerns about its future, assuring the community that recent staff departures are part of a necessary restructuring, not a prelude to closure. The studio’s co-founder, Ben Brode, directly addressed players on Discord, confirming that the team had “said goodbye to a few members of our team yesterday, including our awesome community manager.”

Rumors about the game’s stability gained traction after former community manager Griffin Bennett announced on X/Twitter that he had been laid off, writing, “like so many others in this industry, it’s my time once again to share the sad news that I’ve been laid off from Second Dinner and Marvel Snap.” Designer Glenn Jones has also left the studio in recent days.

Brode later elaborated on the layoffs, acknowledging the emotional weight of the decision. “You know how much he cared about this community, and we’re going to miss him. We know many of you will, too. These decisions were painful to make and say nothing about the quality of the people leaving.” He emphasized that the studio’s commitment to Marvel Snap remains unchanged. “For those of you concerned about Snap, we’re still here, still building, still committed to this game and to you.”

Reassuring players directly, Brode stated, “The roadmap we shared in March remains the same. This is us making hard decisions to make sure we can keep going, not a sign that we’re winding down.”

The game faced a major disruption last year when it went offline in the US for over 24 hours and was removed from app stores due to its association with Nuverse, a subsidiary of ByteDance , the Chinese parent company of TikTok. That ban triggered widespread uncertainty among players. After its return, Second Dinner issued an enormous package of in-game rewards as an apology and committed to finding a new publisher. It later partnered with Skystone Games to ensure such an outage would not recur.

While the recent layoffs are undoubtedly difficult, Brode’s message is clear: Marvel Snap is not going anywhere. The studio is making tough choices now to secure a sustainable future for the game and its community.
