Reports are gaining momentum that Apple is preparing to expand its Ultra branding beyond the Apple Watch, with two major new devices reportedly arriving this year. According to a new article from Macworld, the company’s first foldable iPhone and a new touchscreen MacBook Pro will officially carry the names iPhone Ultra and MacBook Ultra, respectively.

Macworld correspondent Filipe Espósito reports that while many media outlets have speculated about an “iPhone Fold,” Apple appears set on using the Ultra moniker for its upcoming flagship. A source familiar with Apple’s internal roadmap indicates the company is committed to broadening the Ultra lineup with a premium foldable phone launching this fall. The same source also suggests that Apple is planning to extend the Ultra branding to the Mac lineup as well.

This aligns with previous reporting from Mark Gurman, who has noted Apple’s ambitions to grow the Ultra family. More recently, several leakers on Chinese social media platform Weibo have also pointed to iPhone Ultra as the final name for the foldable device.

The iPhone Ultra is expected to debut this September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Key features reportedly include a book-style fold with a crease-free display, a roughly 5.5-inch outer screen and 7.8-inch inner screen, an A20 Pro chip, and Apple’s in-house C2 cellular modem. The device is also said to run a customized version of iOS 27 optimized for side-by-side app multitasking. Camera specs include Main and Ultra Wide rear lenses, plus a front-facing camera on each display. Notably, Touch ID will be integrated into the power button.

On the Mac side, the MacBook Ultra is essentially what many expected to be the M6 MacBook Pro, but with a significant leap in design. The new model is rumored to feature a new industrial design, a touchscreen, an OLED display, and a Dynamic Island instead of the traditional notch. It may also include a C2 cellular modem for always-on connectivity.

While the iPhone Ultra launch appears locked for September, the MacBook Ultra timeline is slightly less certain. Macworld reports that Apple is targeting a 2026 release, but the launch could slip into early 2027.
