The global ride-hailing service inDrive has officially acquired Pakistan’s quick-commerce startup Krave Mart, marking a significant strategic move into the competitive grocery delivery sector. This all-stock transaction, finalized last year and recently approved by the Competition Commission of Pakistan, allows the company to deepen its footprint in South Asia’s commerce landscape. While financial details remain confidential, the deal underscores inDrive’s aggressive push beyond its core transportation business to build a comprehensive super-app offering.
Krave Mart, founded in 2021, operates a network of dark stores to deliver groceries within approximately thirty minutes across Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. This acquisition follows a period of close collaboration between the two firms. inDrive first entered the grocery delivery space in Kazakhstan during September 2025, then launched the service in Pakistan this past January through an initial partnership with Krave Mart. That partnership was preceded by an investment from inDrive’s venture capital arm in December 2024.
The company established a dedicated venture and M&A division in late 2023, earmarking up to $100 million for investments aimed at supporting its broader super-app ambitions. Andries Smit, inDrive’s Chief Growth Businesses Officer, confirmed the regulatory approval, stating the companies are working together to expand fast and reliable grocery delivery nationwide. The service recently launched in Lahore under the inDrive.Groceries brand, while both the Krave Mart and inDrive brands will continue operating in Karachi during the expansion.
However, scaling grocery delivery in Pakistan presents considerable challenges. The market is largely dominated by Foodpanda, a service backed by Delivery Hero that has operated in the region for over ten years. Industry observers note that the quick-commerce model demands substantial capital and time to reach meaningful profitability, creating high barriers for new market entrants seeking to achieve scale.
inDrive brings considerable market presence to this endeavor. According to industry data, it has been the world’s second-most downloaded ride-hailing application since 2022 and ranks as the fourth-most downloaded travel app globally, surpassing 400 million downloads. The platform is the leading ride-hailing service in nine countries, including Pakistan, Peru, and Egypt. With operations spanning more than 1,000 cities across 48 international markets, inDrive possesses an extensive user base to leverage as it diversifies into new service verticals like grocery delivery.
