A major collaboration has arrived in the world of free-to-play gaming, bringing together two powerhouse franchises. Plarium, the developer behind the popular turn-based RPG Raid: Shadow Legends, has partnered with Ubisoft to introduce iconic heroes from the Assassin’s Creed series. This limited-time event, running now through April 8, allows players to recruit legendary assassins into their roster. This marks another high-profile crossover for Raid, which has previously featured characters from franchises like Monster Hunter, Alien, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The centerpiece of this partnership is a new in-game dungeon where players can work to unlock famous assassins. The available champions include Ezio Auditore, Edward Kenway, Kassandra, Bayek, and Basim Ibn Ishaq. According to Plarium’s Vice President of Business Development, Ronen Gross, the studio collaborated closely with Ubisoft to ensure these characters were faithfully adapted. This involved capturing their unique combat styles, signature weapons, and distinctive animations to make them feel authentic within Raid’s dark fantasy setting. Gross noted that the rich world-building and varied tone of Assassin’s Creed made the crossover feel like a natural fit for the game.
Each assassin has a specific method for players to obtain them during the event window. Ezio is offered as a free reward through a Loyalty Program, granted on the seventh consecutive day of logging in. Players can continue earning additional rewards, including an exclusive avatar and resources, up to the fourteenth day. Kassandra is available through a Fusion Event running from January 8 to January 24, requiring participants to complete specific challenges and tournaments to gather fusion materials. After the fusion period ends, she will remain obtainable through summoning shards until the crossover concludes. The remaining heroes, Edward Kenway, Bayek, and Basim, will be accessible through special shards and various limited-time events running throughout the promotion.
It is important to note that while the crossover event itself is temporary, any assassins unlocked during this period will become permanent additions to a player’s collection. Raid: Shadow Legends is free to download on mobile platforms via the App Store and Google Play, as well as on PC through clients like Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Plarium’s own launcher.
This collaboration arrives during a significant period for the Assassin’s Creed brand. The franchise continues to expand beyond its core console and PC titles, with several new projects in development. These include a free-to-play mobile title set in ancient China, a mysterious project codenamed Hexe, a multiplayer party game, and an exclusive title for Netflix. The most recent mainline release was 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
