Apple’s most budget-friendly MacBook has turned into a blockbuster success, if comments from CEO Tim Cook this week are any indication. During an earnings call on Thursday, Cook revealed that customer reaction to the MacBook Neo has been “off the charts” ever since its unveiling in March.
“We could not be happier with how things are going at the moment,” he stated.
Even with high hopes heading into the launch, Apple still “undercalled” the surge of enthusiasm the laptop would trigger, Cook admitted. He noted that MacBook Neo demand has surpassed internal forecasts, driving a record number of first-time Mac buyers during the last quarter. “We’re very focused on customers new to the Mac and customers that have been holding on to their Mac a very long period of time,” Cook explained.
The overwhelming response has created a supply crunch. Cook confirmed the MacBook Neo is currently “supply constrained.” For those ordering today, Apple’s U. S. online store shows a 2-3 week delivery estimate across every configuration.
The MacBook Neo hit shelves on March 11, following a week of pre-orders. With a starting price of just $599 for the general public and an even lower $499 for college students and qualifying educational staff, it’s powered by a version of the iPhone 16 Pro’s A18 Pro chip. Available in Citrus, Blush, Indigo, and Silver finishes, the laptop is clearly resonating with a broad audience.
