Nearly two decades after Dyson introduced its revolutionary bladeless Air Multiplier fans, the company has unveiled a portable, personal version. The new HushJet Mini Cool shrinks the iconic fan technology into a handheld device designed for personal cooling on the go. This launch marks a significant evolution for one of Dyson’s earliest and most recognizable consumer products, bringing its signature safety and engineering to a new form factor.

True to the Dyson lineage, the HushJet Mini Cool operates without any exposed spinning blades. All moving parts are completely enclosed, making it safe to hold and eliminating the risk of catching fingers, hair, or clothing. This design principle is crucial, as the device is intended to be carried and used directly in hand, much like the company’s popular Supersonic hair dryer.

Powering the unit is a high-speed brushless motor capable of spinning at 65,000 rpm to generate a focused air stream reaching speeds up to 55 miles per hour. Users can adjust the airflow across multiple settings, with lower speeds maximizing the integrated 5,000mAh rechargeable battery for up to six hours of runtime. At its quietest setting, the fan produces about 52 decibels of sound, comparable to a standard room fan. Engaging Boost Mode increases both airflow and noise output to approximately 72.5 decibels for maximum cooling power.

The fan’s entire assembly, including the motor and battery, is contained within a cylindrical body measuring 38 millimeters in diameter. This makes it as slim as Dyson’s Supersonic hair dryer and even narrower than a typical energy drink can. At the top, a uniquely shaped nozzle can be rotated to direct airflow straight upward or at an angle. This upward orientation allows the fan to be worn around the neck with an included lanyard for hands-free cooling. The nozzle’s specific geometry is also engineered to reduce higher-pitched operational noises, creating a more pleasant acoustic experience.

Scheduled for release on April 9, the HushJet Mini Cool will debut at a price of $99 in a stone and blush color scheme. Additional color options will follow, with a carnelian and sky red version arriving in May and an ink and cobalt blue model launching in June. The initial package includes a charging stand and a neck lanyard. Dyson has announced plans to introduce more accessories later this summer, such as a stroller mount and a versatile grip clip for attaching the fan to bags, straps, or clothing.
