Bandai Namco has unveiled a significant update for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero that will unlock enhanced performance when played on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This free patch becomes available on November 14, 2025, the same day the game officially launches.
While a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 version will be sold separately, owners of the original Nintendo Switch release are not left behind. By downloading this update, they can enjoy a visually superior experience on the new hardware. The upgrade brings noticeably sharper character models and more richly detailed backgrounds, taking full advantage of the Switch 2’s capabilities.
It is important for players to understand how their data will transition between consoles. Most of your primary save data will carry over when you move from playing on the original Switch to the updated version on the Switch 2. However, certain types of data will not transfer. This includes battle replay files, custom battle edit data, and your online battle records.
The data transfer process also works in reverse. If you apply the update on a Switch 2 and then go back to play on an original Switch system, you will find that some of your progress can be carried back, while other information cannot.
This update also changes the online battle landscape. Once you are playing the updated Switch version on a Switch 2, you can compete online or offline with two specific groups: players using the dedicated Switch 2 version of the game, and other players who are also running the updated Switch version on a Switch 2. You will not be able to battle against players who are still using the standard Switch version on the original hardware, creating a separate matchmaking pool for the enhanced experience.
A new trailer showcases the visual improvements this update brings to the game on the more powerful console.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero arrives on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on November 14, 2025. Detailed information regarding the specific frame rates and resolution targets for each platform version has been released separately.
