Meta’s annual Connect event has once again set the tech world abuzz with a series of major announcements spanning smart wearables, augmented reality, and immersive entertainment. This year’s keynote didn’t disappoint, delivering both long-anticipated reveals and unexpected innovations that promise to shape the future of how we interact with technology.

Among the most talked-about launches were the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, which finally bring a full-color, high-resolution screen to the right lens. Users can view messages, join video calls, read live captions, follow walking directions, and even preview photos taken with the built-in 12-megapixel camera. A companion wristband enables gesture-based control for scrolling, clicking, and eventually typing out messages. Battery life reaches up to six hours of mixed use, extendable to 30 hours with the collapsible charging case. Priced from $799, these glasses will be available in black or brown starting September 30 at Best Buy, LensCrafters, and Ray-Ban stores in the US.

Not to be overshadowed, Meta also introduced the second generation of its standard Ray-Ban smart glasses. These feature a significantly upgraded eight-hour battery life, nearly doubling the endurance of the original model. While retaining the 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, the new version supports 3K video recording at up to 60 frames per second. The charging case now provides an extra 48 hours of power, up from 36. A new “conversation focus” feature enhances audio clarity from the person speaking to you in loud environments. Starting at $379, these are available now in Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner styles.

In a strategic partnership with Oakley, Meta unveiled the Oakley Meta Vanguard, designed specifically for high-intensity sports. These wraparound glasses boast an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and integrate with fitness platforms like Garmin and Strava. A 12MP camera mounted on the nose bridge captures 122-degree footage in up to 3K resolution, with support for slow-motion, time-lapse, and hyperlapse modes. Additional upgrades include improved speakers and a battery lasting up to nine hours. Priced at $499, the Vanguard arrives October 21 in four color combinations, with preorders open now.

Another highlight was the introduction of Hyperscape, a feature allowing Quest 3 and Quest 3S headset users to scan their physical surroundings and convert them into digital environments. Initially demoed last year, the beta is now accessible through the Hyperscape Capture app, offering a glimpse into mixed-reality spatial computing.

Meta also announced Horizon TV, a new entertainment hub within Quest headsets that aggregates streaming services including Prime Video, Peacock, Twitch, and YouTube. New additions like Disney Plus, ESPN, and Hulu will further expand the platform’s offerings. The hub supports Dolby Atmos surround sound, with Dolby Vision compatibility planned for later this year. Select films such as M3GAN and The Black Phone will include immersive special effects exclusive to Quest viewers.

Underpinning these experiences is the powerful Horizon Engine, which enhances graphics, performance, and world-building capabilities. This engine supports Hyperscape and enables larger virtual world capacities. Meta also revealed plans to integrate an agentic AI assistant into Horizon Studio, designed to streamline the use of existing AI tools for virtual world creation.
