The first major post-launch update for 007 First Light, Patch 1.1.0, has officially landed, delivering fixes and improvements for over 200 issues identified by both the community and internal playtesters. The update targets everything from crash fixes and clipping problems to notorious achievement unlock bugs, underscoring the team’s dedication to polishing the spy thriller experience.
“From crash fixes and clipping issues to infamous achievement unlock bugs, this update demonstrates our team’s commitment to refining the 007 First Light experience,” the developers stated.
Beyond purely technical repairs, IO Interactive has added fresh content to sweeten the patch. Two new TacSim missions are now available: “The Workshop,” a three-tier Escalation where players must navigate a dark, silent room with seven hostiles, and “Extraction Avenues,” another three-tier challenge focused on reading security layouts and escaping before reinforcements arrive. Players can also unlock new rewards using Intel currency, including the DRS-7 Silenced SMG, the Stormberg 50. Cal, the DRX-2 Machine Pistol, and the “Diamond in the Rough” outfit, each requiring specific clearance levels.
The patch size varies significantly by platform. PlayStation 5 users face a hefty 23.84 GB download, while Steam players need 3.6 GB, Microsoft PC requires 2.24 GB, the Epic Games Store version is 3.99 GB, and Xbox Series consoles see a modest 1.39 GB.
“Our work does not stop here. More improvements and content updates are already in development. Stay tuned for what lies ahead,” the patch notes concluded.
Key stability fixes include resolving a crash on Xbox Series S when resuming from the Challenges menu during long sessions, a crash after Bond dies during the “Time to Die” boss fight, and an issue where killing an enemy with the Red Room Shotgun in TacSim could cause a crash. The update also addresses a crash on Xbox Series S during the “All the Time in the World” car cinematic and one triggered by dying or restarting in Advanced Close Combat Training Tier 1.
Achievement and challenge bugs have been a major focus. The “A Legacy of Spycraft” achievement now unlocks after collecting all legacy items, “For Your Eyes Only” works after gathering all intel, and the Epic Games Store’s “Casino Royale” achievement finally triggers after collecting every card. Other fixes ensure “Keep Moving Forward” unlocks at Clearance Level 3, “Travelling Light” requires the correct number of hostile throws, and “Nothing to Report” completes as intended.
Gameplay adjustments include fixing Bond’s climbing animation when vaulting over ledges, preventing him from walking off edges at the end of Bluffing, and shortening the gadget input buffer to reduce accidental resource usage. A PlayStation-specific issue where Aim Down Sights stopped working after accessing system menus has been resolved.
For Epic Games Store players in offline mode, content past “Against the Odds” will no longer appear locked. Xbox users on Series S/X will find that reconnecting a wireless controller after it disconnects now works without requiring a full restart. A community-reported issue where the TacSim Mission Selector, Gadget Cart, Outfit Selector, and Intel Shop became unresponsive has been fixed, along with a problem that blocked story chapter selection when choosing Tactical Simulation in offline mode.
UI and HUD improvements ensure objective timers no longer display as 00:00:00 when tracking changes, and Escalation tiles now show correct Intel values per tier. Cinematics have been stabilized to prevent double-speed playback when waking consoles from standby or after alt-tabbing on PC.
Audio fixes address mismatched subtitles during Bond’s takedowns, missing voice lines for Monroe during the sidestep tutorial, and unnatural back-to-back dialogue after cinematics in Advanced Training. Localization corrections include Japanese variables displaying as proper icons, Spanish translations for “Bellhop” and “Motherboard,” and a challenge description that incorrectly referenced a “laundry worker.”
Mission-specific fixes span the entire campaign. In “In His Majesty’s Secret Service,” issues like Singh or Nash appearing before placement, Cressida’s handkerchief clipping, and Bond getting stuck behind the nightclub bar have been resolved. “All the Time in the World” addresses instant defeat on first death, Bond getting stuck in terrain after the twin fight, and missing collisions on the runway. “Beyond the Grave” fixes a progression blocker on Xbox Series S, enemy pathfinding issues, and low-resolution rugs on the same console.
Other missions see similar attention: “Uninvited” fixes enemies unable to exit rooms and camera grabs not working; “Knightfall” prevents Bond from getting stuck in retractable servers; “Time to Die” resolves issues with Bond unable to exit view observation and Greenway not jumping to the truck; and “Against the Odds” stops Bond from spawning out of world when retrying at the wrong moment. “Wave of the Future” fixes Bond walking through closing doors and a spinning fan that blocked progression.
TacSim Escalations receive general fixes like railings remaining raised between tiers and close combat finishers failing under “Silent takedowns only” rules. Extraction Avenues addresses climbing pipes breaking enemy AI, falling out of world on scaffolding, and access cards not spawning from the TacSim Hub.
Other miscellaneous fixes include the Flash Mine “Radius Increase” upgrade preventing detonation when attached to enemies, the “Power Increase” upgrade unlocking the wrong upgrade, and Bond’s torso clipping through the Event Staff Uniform on Xbox Series S.
Players are encouraged to review the current list of known issues and report any new problems via the support form.
007 First Light has been a notable success for the Hitman studio, earning widespread positive reviews and selling 2.7 million copies in its first week. However, the celebration is tempered by recent layoffs at the studio, triggered by Xbox terminating a publishing deal for the online role-playing game Project Fantasy. While both James Bond and Project Fantasy appear to have futures at IO Interactive, the exact path forward remains uncertain.
The studio recently shared deeper development insights into one of the game’s standout characters, James Bond’s mentor John Greenway, offering fans a closer look at the creative process behind the spy’s formative years.
