The latest wave of Galaxy Z Fold 8 leaks has surfaced, offering a clearer picture of Samsung’s upcoming foldable lineup. This time, the information includes pre-order incentives, a confirmed on-shelf release date, and even first-hand impressions from someone who has physically handled the device.
According to recent leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will include two models. One is the “Ultra,” which retains the design and form factor of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The other is the standard model, which introduces a new form factor with a noticeably wider inner display. As we’ve previously noted, the “Ultra” branding feels puzzling. Now, hands-on impressions suggest it may be largely unnecessary.
A leaker known as Lanzuk on Naver shared their experience with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series hardware. They described the weight of the wider device as “unbelievable,” though not because the actual weight is excessive. Instead, they attribute this to a change in perceived weight due to the revised form factor. Lanzuk called it “a new beginning,” especially after the Fold 7 already represented a major step forward in this area.
The enthusiasm, however, fades from there. The leaker questioned why the “Ultra” name exists at all, noting that the only real differences between the two models are display pixels and the crease. Both aspects are reportedly superior on the “Wide” device. Samsung is said to be using thicker ultra-thin glass to enhance display durability and reduce the crease.
In a follow-up post, Lanzuk added that both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra will hit store shelves on August 7, likely in Korea. Samsung’s pre-registration period has reportedly been shortened to just a few days before launch, and pricing remains unknown. Pre-order perks have shifted as well. While the doubled storage incentive is still available, it now comes with more conditions for eligibility.
Samsung is expected to officially announce these devices on July 22.
