Google Health continues refining its redesigned app with version 5.02, addressing user feedback and restoring popular features on both Android and iOS. The iOS update is rolling out today, while Android users can expect it shortly.

A major highlight is the return of naps and hourly activity tracking, two features that were notably absent in the initial redesign. Naps now appear on separate tabs within the daily Sleep Score view, making them easier to track over time. Hourly activity charts, showing step goals per hour, are back and can be added to the Today and Health tabs using the pencil or customize icons.

The Today tab gets a more flexible layout. Users can expand the focus metrics dashboard to see more data without swiping, and reordering metrics is now simpler: just tap the pencil, select a metric, and choose its replacement. On the Health tab, Android users can drag and drop to rearrange charts in the Key Metrics section, with iOS support coming in version 5.03.

Sleep tracking improvements include moving the Restlessness bar closer to the sleep stages graph for better context, enhanced detection of minor awake moments, and full support for deleting and editing sleep sessions. A bug that prevented some users from editing sleep sessions has also been fixed.

Fitness and activity updates fix issues where manually logged exercises showed zero steps or distance, and where automatically detected bike rides reported low distances. Nutrition logging now features faster search results, with serving units and calories displayed on Android. Macronutrient estimations appear on the main logging page before completion, and the Nutrition tile on Today now shows calorie intake and calories remaining instead of net calories.

A significant privacy and data management improvement allows users to delete individual exercise sessions, food logs, and weight logs synced from partner apps directly within Google Health. For logs imported from Health Connect or Apple Health, deletion redirects to the respective platform, and future updates will enable deletion within Google Health without affecting the source platform.
