Meta has teamed up with Oakley to launch a new line of smart glasses designed for active lifestyles, blending cutting-edge technology with athletic performance. The limited-edition Oakley Meta HSTN model, priced at $499, will be available for preorder starting July 11th, with additional Oakley smart glasses featuring Meta’s tech launching later this summer at $399 and up.

These glasses share core features with Meta’s existing Ray-Ban smart glasses, including a front-facing camera, open-ear speakers, and built-in microphones. Once paired with a smartphone, users can stream music, take calls, or interact with Meta AI, which can analyze surroundings, answer questions, and even translate languages in real time.

What sets the Oakley models apart is their athletic focus. With an IPX4 water resistance rating, they’re built to withstand sweat and light rain, while offering 8 hours of battery life, double that of the Ray-Ban version. The included charging case extends usage to 48 hours, making them ideal for long workouts or outdoor adventures. The camera has also been upgraded, now capturing 3K video instead of 1080p.

Five frame and lens combinations are available, all compatible with prescription lenses for an additional fee. Color options include warm grey, black, brown smoke, and clear, with lens choices ranging from standard tints to transition lenses. The premium $499 limited-edition model stands out with gold accents and Oakley PRIZM lenses, offering enhanced visual clarity for sports performance.

This launch follows Meta’s multi-year partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Oakley and Ray-Ban. With over two million Meta Ray-Bans sold so far, the companies aim to scale up to 10 million smart glasses annually by 2026. According to Alex Himel, Meta’s head of wearables, this marks just the beginning of their expansion into performance-focused smart eyewear.

The Oakley Meta HSTN will be available in 15 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and major European markets, with broader availability expected in the coming months.
