To activate this mode, players simply need to navigate to the Quick Menu, select Max Resolution, and choose the new high-quality setting during a Remote Play or Cloud Streaming session. Beyond the resolution boost, the update introduces several practical refinements. The Cloud Streaming experience has been polished to reduce friction. For instance, when selecting “Stream” on a game bundle’s detail page, a new interface appears, letting you pick a specific title from that collection. Game Invite notifications are now clearly displayed on the Portal’s screen if you receive an invitation while actively streaming a supported game, ensuring you never miss a chance to join friends.
One particularly welcome change is the enhancement to Trophy notifications. Previously, seeing what you unlocked on the Portal could be awkward. Now, notifications clearly show the trophy name and its associated image. Unlocking a Platinum trophy will also trigger its special celebratory animation, bringing a greater sense of achievement to portable play.
Other usability tweaks include an improved search screen where the on-screen keyboard appears immediately, and a smoother onboarding process for new users. Those without a PlayStation account can now create one and sign in to their Portal more quickly by scanning a QR code with a mobile device.
