The standard PS5 console price will rise to $649.99, a $100 jump from its current $549.99. The PS5 Digital Edition will see a similar increase, moving from $499.99 to $599.99. The high-end PS5 Pro model will now cost $899.99, up from $749.99. This adjustment marks the second price hike for these consoles in under a year, following a $50 increase across all models last August.
Sony is also raising the cost of its remote play device, the PlayStation Portal. Its price will increase by $50, from $199.99 to $249.99. The company attributes these changes to ongoing pressures within the global economic landscape, citing these factors as the primary driver behind the decision.
The new pricing structure extends beyond North America. In the United Kingdom, the standard PS5 will cost £569.99, the Digital Edition £519.99, and the PS5 Pro £789.99, with the Portal priced at £219.99. Across Europe, prices will be set at €649.99 for the standard PS5, €599.99 for the Digital Edition, €899.99 for the Pro, and €249.99 for the Portal. Japanese consumers will see prices rise to ¥97,980 for the standard console, ¥89,980 for the Digital Edition, ¥137,980 for the Pro, and ¥39,980 for the Portal. This global adjustment reflects Sony’s strategy to manage economic pressures affecting production and distribution costs.
