In a significant achievement for the African corporate sector, MTN Group has been named the continent’s leading telecommunications employer and the third-best globally within its industry, according to the prestigious Forbes World’s Best Employers 2025 list. The South African multinational secured the 166th position overall in the worldwide rankings, which were led by technology giant Microsoft. Within the telecom category, MTN was outranked only by Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications KSC and Germany’s Deutsche Telekom, placing it ahead of well-known international competitors such as Orange and AT&T.

These distinguished rankings stem from comprehensive surveys completed by more than 300,000 workers across 50 different nations. Participants evaluated their employers on critical workplace factors including organizational culture, diversity and inclusion efforts, mutual respect among colleagues, and overall employee wellness. MTN, which employs upwards of 19,000 individuals with the vast majority based in Africa, earned this honor by demonstrating a profound dedication to cultivating a positive and empowering professional atmosphere.

In an official statement, the company expressed that this acknowledgment reflects MTN’s steadfast focus on embedding its core ‘Live Y’ello’ values, care, integrity, agility, respect, and inclusion, into everyday operations. Ralph Mupita, MTN Group President and CEO, highlighted the central role employees play in the organization’s broader mission. He remarked that the workforce is the essential force powering MTN’s goal of advancing digital access and financial inclusion throughout Africa, crediting staff dedication for the company’s ongoing leadership in providing transformative digital services.

Paul Norman, the Group Chief Human Resources Officer, reinforced this perspective, noting that the Forbes accolade validates the company’s strategic emphasis on building a workplace founded on inclusivity, strong support systems, and opportunities for individual advancement. He stressed that fostering an environment where every team member can succeed personally and professionally remains a top priority.

This recognition not only celebrates MTN’s dominance in the telecommunications field but also positions it as a benchmark for outstanding employee experience and corporate culture in Africa’s evolving business environment. The achievement signals that the organization’s investment in its people is yielding tangible rewards, enhancing its reputation as an employer of choice on the global stage.
