A significant step in the company’s regional growth strategy, Lenovo has officially broken ground on its new Middle East and Africa (MEA) Regional Headquarters at Riyadh’s prominent Majdoul Tower. This move solidifies the technology leader’s dedication to the local market and aligns directly with the ambitious goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The ceremony was graced by key executives such as Matt Zielinski, Executive Vice President and President of International Markets, Lawrence Yu, Head of the MEA Regional Headquarters, and Giovanni Di Filippo, Vice President & General Manager for Lenovo Saudi Arabia. The headquarters is projected to be fully operational by March 2026 and will strictly adhere to the operational guidelines set by the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA) for regional headquarters.
Situated in a premier business landmark, the new RHQ is designed to function as the strategic command center for Lenovo’s activities throughout the Middle East and Africa. Its location will facilitate closer collaboration with vital partners, including government bodies, entities linked to the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and other technology firms. The facility is intended to be a hub for driving innovation, forging new partnerships, and cultivating local talent.
Lawrence Yu commented on the occasion, stating, “Today’s groundbreaking is a pivotal chapter in our MEA story. Placing our Regional Headquarters in Riyadh means we are weaving Lenovo into the very future of Saudi Arabia. In partnership with ALAT and PIF, we are constructing advanced capabilities in manufacturing, research and development, and talent cultivation. Our goal is to help position the Kingdom as a central node for innovation and sustainable economic progress.”
A Strategic Alliance with ALAT for Local Manufacturing
Earlier this year, Lenovo and ALAT, a company owned by the PIF, initiated the development of a massive 200,000-square-meter advanced manufacturing plant within Riyadh’s Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ). This facility is a cornerstone of Lenovo’s localization efforts and is scheduled to begin producing “Saudi Made” Lenovo devices by 2026.
The partnership extends far beyond just manufacturing. It includes comprehensive research and development cooperation, programs for talent development, and significant technology transfer. These initiatives are designed to bolster the Kingdom’s objective of becoming one of the world’s top 15 nations in the fields of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing by the year 2030.
This collaboration is projected to have a substantial economic impact, generating more than 15,000 direct employment opportunities and an additional 45,000 indirect jobs. This effort supports the crucial knowledge transfer and economic diversification aims that are central to Vision 2030.
The establishment of the MEA Regional Headquarters at Majdoul Tower powerfully communicates Lenovo’s overarching vision: to deepen its regional presence, invigorate local innovation ecosystems, and assume a leading part in the Kingdom’s transformation into a globally recognized hub for technology and innovation.
