Apple Raises Apple Music & Apple One Prices Citing Rising Licensing Costs

▼ Summary

– Apple raised the price of its individual Apple Music plan from $10.99 to $11.99 per month, citing rising licensing costs.
– The Apple Music family plan increased from $16.99 to $19.99, and the student plan rose from $5.99 to $6.99.
– Apple also increased prices for the Family and Premier tiers of its Apple One bundles, while the individual bundle price remained at $19.95.
– This is Apple Music’s first price increase since October 2022, when the individual plan went from $9.99 to $10.99.
– Apple Music’s new $11.99 individual price remains lower than Spotify’s current $12.99 Premium subscription.

Apple has quietly implemented price increases across Apple Music and several tiers of Apple One for subscribers in the United States and abroad, attributing the move to rising licensing costs.

Effective immediately, the individual Apple Music plan now costs $11.99 per month, a $1 increase from the previous $10.99. The family plan jumps to $19.99, up from $16.99, while the student plan rises to $6.99 from $5.99.

“As a result of rising licensing costs, Apple Music is increasing its subscription price beginning today,” the company stated.

The changes also extend to Apple One bundles, which package Apple Music with other services. While the individual Apple One tier remains unchanged at $19.95 per month, the Family plan now costs $27.95 (up from $25.95), and the Premier plan rises to $39.95 (up from $37.95).

This marks the first Apple Music price hike since October 2022, when the individual plan rose by $1 from $9.99. The adjustment follows a similar move by Spotify, which raised its Premium subscription to $12.99 earlier this year, meaning Apple Music remains slightly more affordable at the individual level.

Subscription price adjustments are becoming routine. In August 2025, Apple increased Apple TV+ pricing to $12.99, up from $9.99. That was the service’s first increase since October 2023, when it rose by $3. Notably, that earlier Apple TV+ hike did not affect Apple One bundle pricing, which combines services like Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, iCloud+, Apple Fitness+, and Apple News+ depending on the tier selected.
